A Glamorous Birthday!

That's right.. it's my birthday! Hooray! I wish I could give you all a gigantic piece of cake. :O

This is the perfect day to wear my beloved Glamour. I applied one coat of Chuck from Essence and two coats of OPI DS - Glamour. LOVE.

Tinsel & Sparkle

After I removed my last mani I decided to go for China Glaze's Tinsel Town on all nails. Just what I expected (and needed): awesomesauce! I see two types of silver glitter in a sheer, dark grey base. This is not just a silver glitter polish, the dark base makes it look really cool and unique. The formula is nice, this is how Tinsel Town looks after two easy coats. The finish is a bit rough, even after applying top coat, but not too gritty for me. The only downside is the wear time; I discovered some chips after a day of wear. But hey, does it even matter if you're thát pretty? ;)
Just when I thought it couldn't get better I decided to use Sapphire Sparkle from CND. An extra coat of sparkle? Yes please. ♥

Tinseled Poinsettia

I just received Tinsel Town and Poinsettia from China Glaze's Let It Snow collection and my hands were itching to use them. Can you blame me..? They're SO pretty! I applied three coats of Poinsettia, a super glossy blue-toned red, and the glittery Tinsel Town at the base of the nail. I really like to use glitter for accents, but I can imagine Tinsel Town looking totally awesome on its own. Can't wait to try it. :)
Poinsettia reminded me of one of my all-time favourites: Kristi from Zoya. And look how close they are! I used two coats here. As you can see Kristi is more opaque and maybe a bit darker; Poinsettia is much more glossier. But you can increase the opacity with an extra coat and use a top coat for a glossy finish.. so let me conclude by saying you probably don't need both.

Sing: Hey, Dirty-Lilah!

Last time I showed you a bold stamping combination, but I like them subtle too! For this look I applied two coats of Catrice - Sing: Hey, Dirty Lilah!, a greyed out lilac with a subtle silver shimmer (subtle as in it barely shows up on the nail). An interesting shade, like it can't decide if it's lilac or grey. The formula was on the thick side, I had some trouble getting an even result; luckily a layer of top coat helped to even out the streaks. After a day of wear I added the paisley-like pattern from Konad plate M64. I used Konad's Princess Special Polish in Light Gray as the stamping polish. I'm not impressed by the quality of Light Gray, some stamped parts look a little patchy, bummer! To finish it off I dotted silver dots over the stamped dots with Millennium from China Glaze and applied a layer of top coat. And do I like the end result..? Oh yes! ♥

Flower Fields Forever

Did I already mention that I'm in love with floral stamping designs? :L For this mani I used a design from Bundle Monster plate BM-224 and Konad Special Polish in White. The base colour is Raspberry Fields Forever from Catrice. Beautiful shade, bright and very raspberry-like. It was easy to apply, this is two coats. As a final touch I added some light pink rhinestones and a layer of top coat.

Thanks for watching and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Nubar - Indigo Illusion

I'm not in the mood for writing a long post, so I'm keeping it short today. Indigo Illusion is too awesome for words anyway. :) I applied three coats, no top coat. Love, love, LOVE it!

Layered Blooboo

I guess you've seen a lot of swatches from Models Own's Beetjejuice Collection the past days, so I decided to show you a different polish from this brand. This is Blooboo. And yes, it's blue, but with a tiny drop of green in it. In the bottle you can see a blurple shimmer; sadly it doesn't translate to the nail. It's still a lovely shade, I can certainly appreciate pastel creme polishes on my nails. ♥ The formula was quite thick, but manageable. I used three coats.
Later I added a layer of one of my favourite Catherine Arley polishes: #674, a light blue prismatic polish. Can I just say I lóve this layering? This icy look is just what I need on this freezing cold day.

a england - Perceval

On the a england website this nail polish is described as a 'splendid and resplendent red'. And that's what Perceval is! I really like this glowy red, the shimmer in it is so beautiful. I wish I could show you a picture taken in sunlight; sadly the sun was shy when I was photographing my nails. But I'm sure this red will rock my nails more than once the coming season (and beyond), so maybe I'll post a nice sunlight picture later. The formula was nice, I needed two coats for full opacity.

Oh, don't forget it's The Gothic Month at a-england! Out of these five mysterious shades I've tried Camelot and King Arthur, I can totally recommend those two. ♥

Canal Houses in Delft Blue

The title says it all actually. This manicure was inspired by the cup I'm holding in the picture. This cup is part of an awesome dinner set I'm collecting called Delfts Blond. Man oh man, I love how this came out! I think I'll cry when I have to remove it from my nails. Seriously. ;)

I applied three coats of Catrice - Snow Motion. Not the best white nail polish, it's sheer ánd streaky. So the search for a good white continues, tips are welcome! Then I freehanded the canal houses with a small nail art brush and Bermuda Breakaway from China Glaze. I also used this blue polish for the blue tips on the other nails. I finished with a layer of top coat.

Ashes & Fire

Yesterday I went to a Ryan Adams concert with my hubby. Even though Ryan had food poisoning (tweet after the show: 'Harmonica part on firecracker = almost puked' :~ ) he managed to give a fantastic show. I enjoyed every minute of it! The name and look of his new album Ashes & Fire inspired me to do this mani. The base colour is Iron Butterfly from Orly and I used Zoya - Rica and Gosh - Rainbow to create 'fiery' tips.

Balloons in the Sky

My husband's words when he saw my nails: "Cool! It looks like balloons flying in the blue sky" (lol, I just love his comments!). I started with applying two coats of Blue Cara Ciao from Catrice - this colour is hard to photograph, it's actually more of a blue-green. After it dried a little, I dabbed different glitter polishes on the base of the nail. I used Essence - Circus Confetti and a bit of Sultry Diva (gold) and Object of Envy (green) from Color Club. A layer of top coat over it and tadaa.. festive nails!
