Cowgirl Up On Steroids

China Glaze Cowgirl Up + Speciallita Atena
China Glaze Cowgirl Up + Speciallita Atena
Oooh, just look at that! This is one coat of Speciallità - Atena over two coats of China Glaze - Cowgirl Up. A dreamy combination, isn't it? I'm in love. The red-purple glow from Cowgirl Up combined with the amazing prismatic sparkles from Atena.. it's almost too hot to handle! :L

Liquid Crystal Tips

China Glaze Crushed Velvet + China Glaze Liquid Crystal
China Glaze Crushed Velvet + China Glaze Liquid Crystal
China Glaze Crushed Velvet + China Glaze Liquid Crystal
I want to declare my love to Crushed Velvet from Diamond Cosmetics. It's my fav dark purple creme, so smooth and dreamy... I love it to pieces! And with China Glaze - Liquid Crystal sponged on the tips I love it even more. This is such a winning combination, I couldn't stop staring at my nails! The third picture shows the blue-purple colour shift in Liquid Crystal, SO gorgeous. (Keep in mind this mani looks way more purple in person.)
colour shifting shimmer, multi-coloured glitter, ooh and aah! ♥

Rainbow In The Air

I'm SO excited about today's nails. I wanted to do some kind of rainbow nail art for ages and now I finally did it, yay! My first attempt was a mess, so I took it off and started again. Believe me if I say that this requires patience and a super steady hand. Oh, and it's FUN to do! :D
A few tips: • Let the polish dry before you add the next colour (I started with the purple stripe, I added the blue when the purple was dry and so on). • Use tape if you don't have a steady hand. • Use pigmented polishes or white polish as a base. • Don't worry when the lines don't look crisp straight away, you can always do touch-ups with a nail art brush. • Wait till everything is completely dry before you add your top coat to prevent smudged lines.

a england - Ascalon

a england Ascalon
"Forged by magic and guided by our hero's sainted hand, the steely grey of his spire is alive with a swirling heart of lavender fire."
a england Ascalon
Today I'm showing you a england - Ascalon, another nail polish from The Legend collection. I think Ascalon is an incredibly cool nail polish, I already wore it twice in two weeks. Now that says something, believe me! Ascalon is a steel grey coloured polish with a good amount of prismatic particles. It also has a subtle duochrome effect; I mostly see a purple flash, but at certain angles there's a golden green colour visible. It's hard to photograph, but the green is definitely there! The formula was excellent, I used two coats.

The Legend nail polishes are available now on the a england website (£9.00 for 13 ml).

Indigo Lunar Eclipse

I love snow. But when it starts snowing at the moment I want to photograph my fresh new mani, I hate snow. I wish I had more pictures to show you, this looks so awesome! Recently I finally bought Barry M - Indigo, an insanely gorgeous blurple creme (the colour was hard to capture on camera, it looks much deeper and purplier irl). Indigo applied beautifully, two coats were enough for full opacity. I wanted to add something to it without losing too much of that beautiful colour so I lightly sponged the tips of my nails with Lunar Eclipse from Orly. This is a dreamy combination, I like it very much! Indigo is such a stunner, why haven't I bought it earlier? In my experience Barry M never disappoints!

Thanks for watching and enjoy your weekend!

Speciallità - Dionísio & Comparison

Hmm.. or could this be my favourite? ♥ Meet Dionísio, the purple prismatic polish from Speciallità. As you can see it's incredibly gorgeous, I love it! The formula was good. It is a bit on the sheer side, this is three coats (no top coat).
China Glaze - LOL, a england - Lady of the Lake, Teeez - Outta Control 01, Speciallità - Dionísio & Color Club - Wild at Heart
I made a comparison on a nail wheel with a couple of purple nail polishes with prismatic particles. Dionísio is the sheerest of these five, but the intense prismatic effect absolutely makes up for it! I can stare at these pretties all day... You can never have enough purple prismatics, can you?

Dionísio is part of my giveaway prize, don't forget to enter! ^_^

Tinsel & Sparkle

After I removed my last mani I decided to go for China Glaze's Tinsel Town on all nails. Just what I expected (and needed): awesomesauce! I see two types of silver glitter in a sheer, dark grey base. This is not just a silver glitter polish, the dark base makes it look really cool and unique. The formula is nice, this is how Tinsel Town looks after two easy coats. The finish is a bit rough, even after applying top coat, but not too gritty for me. The only downside is the wear time; I discovered some chips after a day of wear. But hey, does it even matter if you're thát pretty? ;)
Just when I thought it couldn't get better I decided to use Sapphire Sparkle from CND. An extra coat of sparkle? Yes please. ♥

China Glaze - LOL

This purple prismatic polish from China Glaze was the perfect choice for today. I was in a rush, so I slapped on two easy coats of LOL (no base/top coat) and quickly took a picture before I left home. Indoors it may look kinda boring, but outside in the sun? Absolutely breathtaking.

The Most Special Day Of The Year

August 31st is a very special day for me. Not only are my husband and I celebrating our fourth wedding anniversary today (♥), I'm also celebrating one year of blogging, yay! :party

I almost can't believe it... This blog, one year old. I guess it's safe to say that I really love doing this! I've been struggling with dysthymia (chronic depression, for more info: try Google!) for years and it turns out the blogging thing is a welcome distraction. I want to thank my lovely readers for visiting my blog and leaving such sweet comments. Without you it wouldn't be half as fun! *muah*
This morning I decided to wear the nail polish I wore exactly one year ago: Orly - Space Cadet. That time I used four coats, so I wanted to see how it looked layered over another polish. This is two coats of Space Cadet over one coat of p2 - Dangerous. It's so blingy, love it.

Oh, and a party ain't a party without delicious noms, right? So go ahead... have a taste! ^_^

LOVE: Nfu Oh 51

I have to agree with Michèle, Nfu Oh 51 can't get too much attention. I need to wear it more often and if you have it: so do you! I could not have the heart to remove the pretty Lady of the Lake from a england (still looking good after almost six days of wear!), so I used it as a base for Nfu Oh 51. The lady doesn't mind, she loves it. :)

I applied one coat of 51 and a top coat. This layering combination is very photogenic, I took a million pictures. It was hard to make a selection for this post, I hope you guys like it!

Look how the flakies glow in sunlight... ♥

a england - Lady of the Lake

I love the colour purple and I love prismatic nail polishes, so how could I not love this beauty? Another stunner from the brand a england! This is Lady of the Lake, a dark purple polish with a scattered prismatic effect. The purple version of the beautiful Tristam. I'm head over heels with these prismatic polishes from a england. I really hope Adina will create a dark green version for us!
The formula of Lady of the Lake was excellent, it's pigmented and dries fast. I applied two smooth coats, no top coat. The wear is great too, after three days no tip wear, no chips, yay! I think this polish is definitely worth the money (£9,00 a bottle).

Color Club: Wicked Sweet (Part I: pinks & purple)

This summer Color Club released two nail polish collections called Wicked Sweet and Starry Temptress. Today I'm showing you the pink and purple nail polishes from the Wicked Sweet collection. The nail polishes from this collection are all very bright or neons with a nice extra: they're scented. The scents remind me of scented markers I had as a kid, aah, I loved those! :)

↑ Raspberry Rush is a bright magenta with a jelly like finish. What an awesome, vibrant colour. So mouthwatering and juicy, I'm a fan! I'm not sure if it's really raspberry scented, but it does have a sweet and fruity scent. The formula of Raspberry Rush was ok, the first two coats were a bit streaky though so I applied three. You can see my nail line in the picture, but in real life it was barely noticeable.

↑ Gimme A Grape Big Kiss is a vibrant purple polish with a great... uhm, grape scent. Another beautiful colour, perfect for summer! It has the same formula as Raspberry Crush, I applied three coats.

↑ Yum Gum is a light, bright pink. This one has a creme finish instead of a jelly finish like the above two. It's no surprise Yum Gum's bubble gum scented, definitely my favourite scent out of these three! It made me crave for some real bubble gum. The formula is more pigmented than the other two, but I had some application issues with Yum Gum, I needed three coats to even out the worst streaks.

I always struggle with photographing neons (who doesn't? ;)), especially getting a colour accurate picture of Yum Gum was a challenge. Keep in mind these polishes look brighter and more saturated in real life. All swatches are without a topcoat. Normally bright colours dry with a matte or satin finish, so the glossy finish was a pleasant surprise.

Layering: Holo Chrome over Grape Pop

After two awful rainy days the sun is back, yay! I wanted something on my nails that would look stunning in sunlight, so I spiced up the colour I was wearing, China Glaze - Grape Pop, with Holo Chrome from Kleancolor. Purple and multicoloured sparkles, awesome combination! The drying time of Holo Chrome was longer than average, but the biggest downside of this beautiful polish is definitely the smell. Boy oh boy, this ain't good. I can't say I wasn't warned by other nail bloggers, though. ;)

Zoya - Faye (mattified)

This is how Faye looks after applying a layer of matte topcoat (from Diamond Cosmetics). Mattified sparkly and glittery nail polishes can look so soft and interesting and Faye is no exception. But don't you miss the gorgeous sparkle? That's the thing I like the most about this polish, so I prefer my Faye glossy. :)

Zoya - Faye

This fabulous sparkly polish is Faye from the Zoya Sunshine Collection. Zoya describes it as 'a bronzed mauve with purple and brown undertones flooded with bright gold sparkle'. Normally I'm not so happy with a lot of gold in a nail polish, but this.. aah, this coppery gold sparkle is intense! A true eyecatcher, I caught myself staring at my nails a lot today. :)

Faye is on the sheer side, but applied really well. I used three smooth coats, no top coat.

Colour Block Inspired Nails 2

A while ago I posted a colour block inspired mani and I loved it. I thought it would be fun to do a remake with different colours, so last night I threw all my creme nail polishes (a lot more than I thought! *whew*) on my bed to see what colour combinations would be cool and this is the result. As you can see I also practiced my taping skills. :) I like it. What about you?

The nail polishes I used:
dusty turquoise-green: Catrice - I Sea You!
smoky purply grey: Zoya - Caitlin
bright pink: Barry M - Shocking Pink
purply blue: Catrice - Pool Party At Night

Catrice - From Dusk To Dawn (version I & II)

Yesterday I went to the nearest drugstore to see if I could get my hands on some products from the new limited editions from Catrice and Essence when I discovered a new version of a Catrice nail polish named From Dusk To Dawn. It seems like Catrice is 'updating' some of their nail polishes, this is not the first new shade with an old name and number. I don't get easily annoyed, but I find this somewhat annoying. I mean, come on.. how hard is it to give a new polish a new name?
The new version of From Dusk To Dawn is a(nother) Chanel - Paradoxal look-alike. I think it's waaay prettier than the old version, the blue and pink shimmer makes the dusty taupe/purple/mauve base glow, beau-ti-ful! The formula was a little on the thick side, like most polishes from Catrice, but the application was smooth. I used two coats and a layer of topcoat.

OPI - Movin' Out

A while ago I spotted a beautiful polish on two great blogs: here and here. But somehow I forgot about it (crazy, I know!). Recently the same polish popped up on some other great blogs that I follow, herehere and here. I was intrigued. Then I saw it on Kirsten's blog about a week ago and that was it, I was lost. I hád to get my hands on this precious polish before it would be too late (or too expensive *cough* Clarins 230 *cough*). Luckily, I found a seller on eBay who was willing to ship a bottle to me, after I paid for it of course. :i I'm presenting you: OPI - Movin' Out. My preciousss...
Movin' Out is quite boring ehh.. I mean ladylike on its own. And sheer. Which makes it great for layering. And the layering results can be pretty awesome (you should really check out all the links above to see how great it looks over different polishes). I decided to layer one coat of Movin' Out over Zoya - Veruschka and I'm in love. Turns out it's not a boring pinkish purple, but multichrome heaven! And do you see those orangey gold specks in the bottle picture? Especially in bright light it looks like these specks are dancing on the nail surface, nice!
I have nothing more to say :L        ...besides, thanks for watching!
