a england - Lady of the Lake

I love the colour purple and I love prismatic nail polishes, so how could I not love this beauty? Another stunner from the brand a england! This is Lady of the Lake, a dark purple polish with a scattered prismatic effect. The purple version of the beautiful Tristam. I'm head over heels with these prismatic polishes from a england. I really hope Adina will create a dark green version for us!
The formula of Lady of the Lake was excellent, it's pigmented and dries fast. I applied two smooth coats, no top coat. The wear is great too, after three days no tip wear, no chips, yay! I think this polish is definitely worth the money (£9,00 a bottle).

Thanks for watching!

Layering: Holo Chrome over Grape Pop

After two awful rainy days the sun is back, yay! I wanted something on my nails that would look stunning in sunlight, so I spiced up the colour I was wearing, China Glaze - Grape Pop, with Holo Chrome from Kleancolor. Purple and multicoloured sparkles, awesome combination! The drying time of Holo Chrome was longer than average, but the biggest downside of this beautiful polish is definitely the smell. Boy oh boy, this ain't good. I can't say I wasn't warned by other nail bloggers, though. ;)

Color Club - Fashion Addict

I'm having a rough week and my energy level is pretty low, so I'll keep this post short. The nail polish I'm wearing today is Fashion Addict from Color Club, a pale lilac prismatic polish. I've heard new bottles contain a flat, less sparkly version of the old Fashion Addict, boo! :@ I bought my bottle quite a while ago, but I'm not sure if I own the old or the new version. The prismatic effect looks pretty awesome to me, so that's a good thing! What do you think, old or new?

The application wasn't great, I needed three coats (no topcoat) to cover all the bald spots. A different basecoat, like the Aqua Base from Nfu Oh, could make the application easier. I'll try it the next time I wear this pretty. :)

a england - Tristam

It's unique, mysterious and reminds me of a starry sky. This is Tristam, a dark blue prismatic nail polish from the young brand a england. Dear readers, dark blue and prismatic, do I need to say more..? I. Love. It.

Not only the looks are great, the formula is just how I want it to be. I applied two silky smooth coats, no topcoat.

Finally, I want to share a few beautiful lines from the a england website:

"a england celebrates:
glamour on nails and the creation of new classics
beautiful, unique shades as the ultimate personal accessory
nail polish as alluring and rewarding: you can watch it on yourself all the time and enjoy it!
a passion for england: its light, utterly romantic weather, somehow gothic charm and glory"

Milani - Hi-Res

Gorgeous, right? This is Hi-Res from Milani. My camera wouldn't pick up the right colour and made it look quite blueish, in real life it's actually more lavender coloured (the picture below is the most colour accurate). Hi-Res has one of my favourite finishes, it's a prismatic! The prismatic particles are quite chunky, they remind me of small pieces of glass. Indoors it looks mostly like a polish with silvery flecks, but when sunlight is added Hi-Res comes to life, woah! I recommend wearing Hi-Res on a sunny day, you'll be amazed by its beauty! I really, really like this one. :L
The formula was good, I used three coats for an opaque result, no topcoat.

Glamorous Chuck

I don't like to spend a lot of money on a nail polish, but I made an exception for one: OPI DS Glamour. I will never regret buying it, because it's a bottle full of awesomesauce. This morning I was applying Chuck from Essence, a gorgeous blurple creme, and you know what? It's the perfect 'underwear' for Glamour! Now I don't have to apply three coats of Glamour every time I want to wear it and see my bottle getting emptier and emptier...

The formula of Chuck is amazing, I applied two coats and one coat of Glamour, no topcoat.

Thanks for watching!

p.s. A lot of people entered my giveaway, which is really amazing, but it takes some time to go through all the entries. :) I'll announce the winner asap!

Ravishing Ruby - My 1st franken!

Today I present to you my first franken*, which I called Ravishing Ruby. I never knew it could be hard to find the right name for a nail polish *phew*. So why this name? Well, because it's ravishing (right? Right?! lol) and the colour reminds me strongly of the Birma Ruby, an utterly gorgeous gemstone. Too bad rubys are very expensive.. I think a cocktail ring with that stone on it would look so great next to this polish. :d

What can I say? I'm really happy with the result of my first attempt to franken something. I wish I could tell you what I threw in the bottle, but I used too many polishes, it was a chaos! I recall using Nfu Oh #62, Catrice - The Devil Wears Red, China Glaze - VIII, a few drops of OPI - DS Original... See? Not helping. ;)

The formula was fantastic. I was afraid it would end up being a gloopy mess, but no, it applied like butter. This is two coats without topcoat, ain't it glossy?

Tell me, have you ever made a franken and is it the polish of your dreams?

Thanks for watching!

*franken(polish): a nail polish created 'at home' by mixing other nail polishes, loose glitter, pigments or whatever you want in it;

Teeez - Smooth

Today I'm showing you Smooth, the third (and sadly also the last) prismatic nail polish from the brand Teeez. A pink-fuchsia coloured polish with prismatic particles. It looks fantastic in bright light, but indoors it's a pretty too! Let me think... do I have something similar? I guess I don't. And that's cool, 'cause it's a fabulous shade. And hey, everything that has something rainbow-y going on is a total win for me! The formula was very nice, I could've stopped after applying two coats, but after three coats the colour looked more intense, which I like, so you're looking at three coats without a top coat.
You like? In case you've missed it, I'm giving away Smooth's purty purple sister and her blowing-you-away blue brother (among others), so if you want to enter my giveaway click → here ←!

Thanks for watching. :)

Catrice - Dirty Berry

I don't know what's so berry about this polish, but this is Dirty Berry from Catrice. I would describe the colour as a muted bleuish lavender (in normal daylight the colour looks a bit more muted than the above pictures show). Dirty Berry contains a lot of tiny silver glitters with a little surprise, because in bright light they show a very, very weak scattered prismatic effect (if you're looking for a full on rainbow, skip this one). I love the colour and I actually like the subtle prismatic look it has in the sunlight, those little pops of colour made me smile! I can't believe I said that, maybe I have to go on a hunt for one of the Tronica polishes from China Glaze then. :O

Dirty Berry applied well, two easy coats, no topcoat.

Comparison: Teeez - Outta Control & Color Club - Wild At Heart

I was wondering how the pretty purple prismatic Teeez nail polish, Outta Control, would look like next to another purple pretty we all love and cherish, Wild At Heart from Color Club. So here's my comparison. Just like I thought: Outta Control is lighter and more blue toned than Wild At Heart. Another difference lies in the colours I see when I hold my nails in bright light, the prismatic particles in Outta Control show more green, blue and pink, whereas the particles in Wild At Heart show a lot more orange and magenta.

I think the prismatic effect is equally strong in both polishes, but the bigger contrast between the rainbow-y particles and the darker base colour of Wild At Heart can sometimes give the illusion of a stronger prismatic effect in the Color Club one.

They applied well, two easy coats and you're done. Wild At Heart is a little more pigmented though, you could even get away with one coat. For this comparison I didn't apply a topcoat, because I wanted you to see them on their own.

Which one do I prefer? Can't choose, really. They're so beautiful, as a purple prismatic polish lover I'm drooling over both!

Which one do you prefer? :)

Teeez - Outta Control and a Teeez Teaser

Oh, Teeez, how I love you. Today I'm showing you another stunner from Teeez, Outta Control (01). A gorgeous purple polish with an even prettier prismatic effect. Indoors it's beautiful, but when you add sunlight: bam! It's like magic. Needless to say, I love-love-lóve this! I'll never get enough of purple prismatic polishes, they're hawt.

The application was good, this is two coats plus a layer of topcoat. So far, Teeez doesn't dissapoint at all. Awesome colours, great application... I couldn't ask for more.

Besides showing some Teeez magic I'm going to tease you guys a little, ha! To thank my lovely followers I want to share the magic by giving a bottle of Outta Control (together with other awesome pretties) away when I reach the 500 follower mark. Sounds great, no? :)

Teeez - Cool

A couple of weeks ago the lovely Miranda showed swatches of some Teeez nail polishes. I was immediately intrigued! I don't know what it is with me and prismatic polishes... *sigh* So, I went searching for Teeez. About the brand:

"TEEEZ trendy cosmetics is a Dutch-based hip and fashionable cosmetics company.
TEEEZ trendy cosmetics offers makeup for eyes, lips, nails and body.
Have Fun, Get Noticed, Be TEEEZED... "

Yay! It's Dutch. :) When I was looking for places where I could buy their products it turned out a shop right around the corner of my house sells them without me knowing it. How is that for a surprise! But onto one of the polishes I bought, this is Teeez - Cool 02.
And it's certainly pretty cool, I would describe it as an azure coloured polish with a scattered prismatic effect. Blue + prismatic glitter = a total win in my book! The only thing I don't like about the polish are the flowery stickers on the bottle, it looks a bit cheap, but the polish itself is really awesome. The application was good, I used three thin coats, but you could get away with two thicker coats. The brush is somewhat flat, nice to work with.
Teeez polishes cost €4,50 (10 ml), but they were 50% off, lucky me. :O

Now I'm off to the kitchen, today is bake day! Thanks for watching.

Nubar - Reclaim

What can I say? It looks surreal. *stares at nails* I can't believe how beautiful this nail polish is, the perfect green, the prismatic effect is gorgeous, aah.. just look at it! :L

The application was per-fect. Really, there wasn't any cleaning up to do, two smooth coats, no topcoat.

Thanks for watching and have a great day!

OPI DS Signature

Today I'm showing you one of my favourite nail polishes, OPI DS - Signature. The Designer Series polishes from OPI are so incredible... if someone would take away my polishes (please don't!) I'd miss these the most! They are my go-to polishes if I'm uninspired and still want pretty polishes nails. Signature is a pinkish mauve polish with a gorgeous scattered prismatic effect and a high gloss finish. What's not to like? I applied three thin coats, no top coat.
And now I'm off to the kitchen to bake a delicious carrot cake, nom!

Thanks for watching.. :)

Nfu Oh #64

This one actually doesn't need words, it just needs a whole lotta love (and a lot of pictures, I'm sorry ^^)! Nfu Oh #64 is a mauve, pinkish lilac coloured polish with an incredible, almost retina-searing, prismatic effect (and very distracting too, it's unsafe to wear this polish while driving, seriously). Don't you think it's odd that this polish looks quite uninteresting in the bottle and so crazy on the nail? It's pretty, so pretty, lalala... *does happydance* If you want a trip around the rainbow: all pictures are clickable! :D
I applied two coats over Nfu Oh's Aqua Base, no top coat.

Nfu Oh #62

I finally tried one of the prismatic/holographic polishes from Nfu Oh, this is #62! I would describe it as a light almond coloured polish with a hint of pink and a smooth, silky finish if that makes sense... Very chique! The polish contains very small particles that cause an in-your-face rainbow on the nail in bright light. Even in normal daylight there's still a subtle rainbow visible at some angles. Some prismatic polishes become dull in low light, but with this one: never a dull moment. 8) It's an incredibly awesome polish!

I applied it over one coat of Nfu Oh's Aqua Base, a great basecoat for lineair prismatic polishes like this one (and I heard it's also great as a base for matte polishes, I have to try that soon!). This is two coats of #62, no topcoat.

Thanks for watching!

Comparison: Catherine Arley #677 & OPI DS Extravagance

I know these Catherine Arley polishes aren't so easy to get (intact that is.. :brow), so I like to show you comparisons with other polishes to see if they're really worth getting. This time I made a comparison with #677 and OPI DS Extravagance. As you can see DS Extravagance is darker and more a purply berry  than  cranberry coloured like #677. Both polishes have a scattered prismatic effect. DS Extravagance seems to have prismatic particles of different sizes, which makes it (for me) more interesting to look at, even in low light.

The application of both is good, they're both pigmented so I applied two coats, no topcoat.

Catherine Arley #677

I can't believe I ordered so much Catherine Arley polishes, when will it end? :o ;)

This is #677 (and I just have to say it: I'm hating these polishes for having a stupid number instead of a fancy name.. ). I would describe it as a berry red polish with - no surprise - prismatic particles in it. This one has a subtle scattered prismatic effect. It's very sparkly and I love the colour! #677 applied  like butter and is nice and pigmented, this is two coats without topcoat. I had to be careful to not cut myself with this bottle, it was the only damaged one from my order. :|

I'll make a comparison post with OPI DS Extravagance!

Thanks for watching! :h
