a england - Guinevere

Today I decided to crown my hands with another beauty from the brand a england. Guinevere has a creme finish and I would describe the colour as a muted mauve. It reminds me a lot of Parlez-vous OPI? from OPI, but Guinevere is lighter and more blue-toned. A lovely shade, very soft and feminine looking. It's surprisingly pigmented for a pastel shade, two coats will give you full opacity. The formula is fairly thick, it wouldn't level out nicely when I was applying the first coat, but luckily the second coat smoothened everything out.

Zoya - Faye (mattified)

This is how Faye looks after applying a layer of matte topcoat (from Diamond Cosmetics). Mattified sparkly and glittery nail polishes can look so soft and interesting and Faye is no exception. But don't you miss the gorgeous sparkle? That's the thing I like the most about this polish, so I prefer my Faye glossy. :)

Zoya - Faye

This fabulous sparkly polish is Faye from the Zoya Sunshine Collection. Zoya describes it as 'a bronzed mauve with purple and brown undertones flooded with bright gold sparkle'. Normally I'm not so happy with a lot of gold in a nail polish, but this.. aah, this coppery gold sparkle is intense! A true eyecatcher, I caught myself staring at my nails a lot today. :)

Faye is on the sheer side, but applied really well. I used three smooth coats, no top coat.

Catrice - From Dusk To Dawn (version I & II)

Yesterday I went to the nearest drugstore to see if I could get my hands on some products from the new limited editions from Catrice and Essence when I discovered a new version of a Catrice nail polish named From Dusk To Dawn. It seems like Catrice is 'updating' some of their nail polishes, this is not the first new shade with an old name and number. I don't get easily annoyed, but I find this somewhat annoying. I mean, come on.. how hard is it to give a new polish a new name?
The new version of From Dusk To Dawn is a(nother) Chanel - Paradoxal look-alike. I think it's waaay prettier than the old version, the blue and pink shimmer makes the dusty taupe/purple/mauve base glow, beau-ti-ful! The formula was a little on the thick side, like most polishes from Catrice, but the application was smooth. I used two coats and a layer of topcoat.

OPI DS Signature

Today I'm showing you one of my favourite nail polishes, OPI DS - Signature. The Designer Series polishes from OPI are so incredible... if someone would take away my polishes (please don't!) I'd miss these the most! They are my go-to polishes if I'm uninspired and still want pretty polishes nails. Signature is a pinkish mauve polish with a gorgeous scattered prismatic effect and a high gloss finish. What's not to like? I applied three thin coats, no top coat.
And now I'm off to the kitchen to bake a delicious carrot cake, nom!

Thanks for watching.. :)

Nfu Oh #64

This one actually doesn't need words, it just needs a whole lotta love (and a lot of pictures, I'm sorry ^^)! Nfu Oh #64 is a mauve, pinkish lilac coloured polish with an incredible, almost retina-searing, prismatic effect (and very distracting too, it's unsafe to wear this polish while driving, seriously). Don't you think it's odd that this polish looks quite uninteresting in the bottle and so crazy on the nail? It's pretty, so pretty, lalala... *does happydance* If you want a trip around the rainbow: all pictures are clickable! :D
I applied two coats over Nfu Oh's Aqua Base, no top coat.

Goodies from Born Pretty Store

I guess most of you heard of the webshop Born Pretty Store. This webshop offers a lot (and with that I mean: a lot!) of lovely nail art products like rhinestones, stickers, dotting tools and striping tape, but they also have makeup brushes, false eyelashes and even contact lenses. Jessica from Born Pretty Store asked me if I would like to review some products.. Well, of course! I love to try out new nail products. :) She was kind enough to send me two polishes, a wheel with coloured half pearls and a lot of fimo canes. I'm so excited about those fimo canes, aren't they cute? I can't wait to try them, especially the fruit designs!

But first I want to show you swatches of the two glitter polishes I got ($3,51 for 8 ml). The brand name is BO Nail Lacquer (the font on the bottle has a striking resemblance to the font on OPI bottles, don't know what to think about that). When I was looking for a name or a number I found a strange sticker at the bottom of the bottle which says Original Nail Envy. I doubt that these bottles contain OPI's Nail Envy, so what's up with that? Ah well.. No names or numbers then. EDIT: the sticker of the left one says B34 and the right one would be B02, but they don't look the same as the corresponding numbers on the website. So I don't know if the stickers on my bottles are right.
Enough about the bottles, let's talk about the polishes! I received two glitter polishes, one sheer pink with silver mini glitter and one sheer lilac/mauve with the same silver glitter. They are very very sparkly, love that! They contain so much glitter, the effect is almost metallic. The application was good, but these polishes are both very sheer. Even after applying three coats the smile line of my nail is still visible. I think I'll try layering them in the future.
Sparkly, right? :D I'm happy to tell you I received a code you guys can use to get a 10% discount at www.bornprettystore.com. The code is AMYGK31 and you can use it till March 31st.

Models Own - Purple Grey

I showed you the two on the left (Grace Green and Mushroom) earlier and now it's time for the third in line: Models Own - Purple Grey. Well, that's a fitting name, as this polish is a mix of purple and grey. An odd polish actually, it's playing tricks on me.. (sspooky!). Sometimes it looks more grey, sometimes more purple, but Purple Grey can look a little bit like a dark mauvish taupe too. I love it when a polish has different faces! :D
I had no application issues. The substance is a little thick and very pigmented. This is two coats plus topcoat.

Comparison: Color Club - Fashion Addict & OPI - DS Diamond

When I was wearing OPI - DS Diamond some time ago it reminded me of another polish. I went searching through my nail polishes and found Color Club - Fashion Addict. So here I have a comparison for you. As you can see they're not the same! Fashion Addict is more lilac and DS Diamond is more mauve-ish. The texture of both polishes is quite similar though, the density of the glitter is the same. Although I couldn't capture the effect of the prismatic glitter that well (no sun :( ), the effect is in both polishes equally strong. Actually I don't know which one I like better, so they both can stay! ;)
