Blinding Nails

China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy + Speciallita Hefesto
It looks like Summer finally started in The Netherlands, woohoo! I decided to celebrate by wearing this blinding layering. I used four coats of China Glaze - Flip Flop Fantasy (love the colour, hate the formula) and one coat of Hefesto, the prismatic top coat from Speciallità.

You should see this in person... :L

Flamingo Inspired Nails

Flamingo inspired nails with gradient and stamping (BM-214)
Flamingo inspired nails with gradient and stamping (BM-214)
Today I'm showing you another bird inspired mani (click here if you missed my peacock nails!). The colours I used for this gradient (Barry M - Peach Melba & Orly - Pixy Stix) reminded me very much of the colouring of a flamingo, so I decided to do some accent nails with feathers. For the feathers I used plate BM-214 and Konad Special Nail Polish in White. I added some sparkly accents on the feathers with Rica from Zoya. I hope you like the end result as much as I do! ^_^

Bright Pink Glitter Nails

Who can resist bright pink glitter nails? I know I can't! ♥ For this mani I started with two coats of Barry M - Pink Flamingo. Then I added one of Catrice's Million Styles Effect Top Coats, Million Dollar Baby, a top coat with small gold hex glitter and medium-sized silver hexes. Silver you say? Then why do I see pink glitter? That's because I also added a layer of the sheer pink jelly of Essence's Colour³ nail polish called Brightsmates. Oh yes, you're looking at a glitter sandwich! ^_^ My camera freaked out a little (actually a lot *sigh*), my nails are obviously pink, but not neon pink in real life (that would've been nice too!). The close-up picture is more colour accurate than the first pic.

Coral & Orange: Speciallità - Afrodite & Deméter

Mmm, this pinky coral shade makes my mouth water. Speciallità - Afrodite reminds me of candies, yum! Don't worry, I'm not going to take a bite, but it sure looks delicious. Although the prismatic effect isn't very strong, I think it's still super pretty. An unexpected favourite! The formula was good, I used two coats.
And this is Speciallità - Deméter. An orange I would wear! Too bad my camera freaked out (I hate it when that happens, grr!) and made it look too orange and way too bright. It's actually a soft shade, more like Afrodite, and less yellow-toned than my picture shows. A very unusual nail polish, I like that! Nice formula, two coats.

Just a couple of days left to enter my Speciallità giveaway, don't forget to enter! :)

Speciallità - Ares

It's a little obvious to wear red for Christmas, but I just lóve red. I decided to wear Speciallità's Ares, a coral leaning red prismatic polish. Isn't it pretty? I think it's perfect! Applying Ares was super easy, two coats were enough for an opaque result.

That's it for today... I wish you all a merry, merry Christmas! :h May God bless you!

Ashes & Fire

Yesterday I went to a Ryan Adams concert with my hubby. Even though Ryan had food poisoning (tweet after the show: 'Harmonica part on firecracker = almost puked' :~ ) he managed to give a fantastic show. I enjoyed every minute of it! The name and look of his new album Ashes & Fire inspired me to do this mani. The base colour is Iron Butterfly from Orly and I used Zoya - Rica and Gosh - Rainbow to create 'fiery' tips.

Barry M - Pink Flamingo + Konad M64

It's an amazing sunny and hot day, so this morning I decided I wanted summery nails! I'm wearing a beautiful nail polish from Barry M, Pink Flamingo. A coral leaning pink creme; bright, but also milky looking (does this make any sense? It's kinda hard to describe, lol). The formula was somewhat thick, but warm weather can affect the consistency of a nail polish, so it can be different on a colder day. I used three coats. For the stamping I used one of my favourite designs from imageplate M64 and Konad Special Nail Polish in White. As you can see I had some trouble placing the design the same way on all nails.. ah well. I love the colours together and from a distance it looks pretty neat. :O

Cult Nails - Captivated

Captivated. A well chosen name for this nail polish, glittery goodness! I saw the first swatch of it and I wás captivated. Which was kinda surprising to me, because I'm not a big fan of chunky glitter polishes. But this one... oh, I nééded it. Captivated is part of a collection called A Day at the Races, a beautiful range of nail polishes designed by fellow blogger Maria! Creating your own nail polish line, isn't that the dream of every nail polish lover..? *sigh*
Maria describes Captivated as 'a coral based jelly polish packed with gold and coral glitter'. I have nothing to add to that description. It's extremely pretty, so sparkly, like a summer party on my nails! It'll be awesome for a pedi too, so applying it on my toenails will be the next thing I'm doing. The formula on this one was quite goopy, so the application wasn't the easiest. I hope some thinner will solve that, 'cause I want to wear this beauty all summer long! I used three coats and one layer of topcoat. On the pictures it may look a little see-through, especially on the pic taken in sunlight (3rd), but in real life it's more opaque. And more sparkly too! The nail surface feels slightly bumpy after applying Captivated, but that can be solved with a good layer (or two) of topcoat.

Queen's Day Nails

I'm a little late posting this, I just had a busy weekend.. oh well, better late than never, right? Past Saturday was a national holiday in The Netherlands, called Queen's Day. On this day the Dutch people celebrate the birthday of our Queen. Her actual birthday is on January the 31st, but I won't annoy you with the story behind that, on to the nails! Queen's Day means Orange Craze, it's time for the Dutchies to go all crazy with the colour orange; orange clothing, orange wigs, orange make up, orange nails... I'm not a big fan of orange (I'm a shame for my country, lol), but that doesn't stop me from putting something bright and fun on my nails, ha! :O I used four coats of China Glaze - Flip Flop Fantasy (terrible formula, yuk!) and sponged the tips with one of my new pretties, Rica from Zoya. These two polishes are a match made in heaven, seriously, so pretty! My camera freaked out when I wanted to photograph my nails, it looks waaay more coral and less orangey in real life. But for those of you who like orange, here you are. ;)

Cute Kitty (& Doggy)

Yesterday I showed you the fimo canes I got from Born Pretty Store (a webshop with tons of awesome nail art products). These canes are so.. SO cute! And there are so many of them... I had a hard time deciding which one I'd use first! As you can see I chose a cute pink kitty. On my ringfingers and thumbs I'm wearing Trind - CC117 and on the rest of my nails Wife Goes On from Essie. They're both awesome polishes, really pigmented too, this is two coats with topcoat (and an extra layer of topcoat to seal the fimo slices). The Essie one reminds me a lot of nice sunny days, because I wore it a lot last summer. And as it is really sunny today, I thought it would be a good time to use it again!
Applying the slices of the kitty fimo cane wasn't the easiest thing to do. You have to cut very thin slices, otherwise the fimo won't follow the curve of your nail and make your nail look and feel very bumpy (the surface of your nail will always look/feel a bit bumpy with fimo, unless you're ok with using half a bottle of topcoat of course ^^ ). And I think it's better to use a drop of nail glue instead of topcoat to apply the fimo and make it stay on longer. Ah well, I think these fimo canes are adorable! :L
Our dog is also enjoying the sun today, lol!
She can look a bit less dumb too... ^_^
