Peacock Inspired Nails

Peacock inspired nails with gradient and stamping (BM_212)
Peacock inspired nails with gradient and stamping (BM-212)
I proudly present to you my peacock inspired nails! I've always been mesmerized by peacocks and I wanted to do something like this for ages. As you can see I jumped on the bandwagon with gradient nails (thanks for the awesome tutorial, Sammy!). I started with two coats of China Glaze - Holly-Day, then I sponged with Holly-Day, Bermuda Breakaway and Grape Pop (all China Glaze). The pretty pattern is from image plate BM-212 and I used 2030, álso from China Glaze, as the stamping polish. I added dots in the center of the stamped circles with Zoya - Ivanka, Zoya - Mimi and a mix of those two.

Metallic V French

a england Order of the Garter + v french tips with China Glaze Millennium
Order of the Garter is such a beautiful polish, I can't remove it just yet. But why not add something to it? For the v-shaped french tips I used China Glaze - Millennium. As you can see I also applied a layer of matte top coat. Doesn't Order of the Garter look even more stunning mattified?

Thanks for watching! :)

a england - Order of the Garter

a england Order of the Garter
a england Order of the Garter
It seems like I'm in the mood for blue lately and this beautiful polish from a england satisfies my needs perfectly. ♥ Today I'm showing you the seventh and last shade from a england's The Legend collection. The name of this royal blue with lighter blue glass flecks is Order of the Garter. Man, I should wear glass flecked polishes more often, I totally forgot how pretty they are! The formula was nice, I applied three coats for full coverage. The second picture is the most colour accurate.

The Legend collection is available (with free worldwide shipping!) on the a england website.

Forgotten Treasure

Essence It's Two Bright + Etos Effect Nails 008
A couple of days ago I was cleaning out my closet and found a box with old nail polishes. A bunch of sheer pinks and thickened frosts, but also this impressive little glitter polish (Effect Nails #008) from Etos (Dutch drugstore). The sheer blue base is filled with small and medium-sized prismatic hexes. SO pretty. For this mani I layered one coat over two coats of the blue side of Essence's Colour³ nail polish called It's Two Bright. I had a hard time capturing the glittery awesomesauce on the nail, but the bottle shot does show how beautiful the glitter looks in real life!

Liquid Crystal Tips

China Glaze Crushed Velvet + China Glaze Liquid Crystal
China Glaze Crushed Velvet + China Glaze Liquid Crystal
China Glaze Crushed Velvet + China Glaze Liquid Crystal
I want to declare my love to Crushed Velvet from Diamond Cosmetics. It's my fav dark purple creme, so smooth and dreamy... I love it to pieces! And with China Glaze - Liquid Crystal sponged on the tips I love it even more. This is such a winning combination, I couldn't stop staring at my nails! The third picture shows the blue-purple colour shift in Liquid Crystal, SO gorgeous. (Keep in mind this mani looks way more purple in person.)
colour shifting shimmer, multi-coloured glitter, ooh and aah! ♥

Rainbow In The Air

I'm SO excited about today's nails. I wanted to do some kind of rainbow nail art for ages and now I finally did it, yay! My first attempt was a mess, so I took it off and started again. Believe me if I say that this requires patience and a super steady hand. Oh, and it's FUN to do! :D
A few tips: • Let the polish dry before you add the next colour (I started with the purple stripe, I added the blue when the purple was dry and so on). • Use tape if you don't have a steady hand. • Use pigmented polishes or white polish as a base. • Don't worry when the lines don't look crisp straight away, you can always do touch-ups with a nail art brush. • Wait till everything is completely dry before you add your top coat to prevent smudged lines.

Glittering Blue

I'd like you to meet Have An Ice Day, one of the stunning Million Styles Effect Top Coats from Catrice. This top coat has a clear base with tiny prismatic glitters. Ooh, sparklies! ♥ It looks a million times more awesome in real life, the sparkly effect is difficult to capture on a photograph. The bottle pic below came out pretty nice though. I'm wearing two coats of Have An Ice Day over Barry M - Cobalt Blue. The finish is slightly gritty, but a good layer of regular top coat will fix that.

Polka Dots

Last week I was doing two of my favourite things: drinking tea and nomming M&M's. Easter M&M's to be precise! They're so adorable. And delicious of course.. I ♥ M&M's! I wanted to use this colour combination on my nails. Now, I don't have the exact same colours (see? You can never have enough polishes ^^), so I picked four polishes in the same colour range. I think they look awesome together! As you can see I also covered all nails with white dots (a polka dot mani was on my to-do list for ages). I love how this looks! Gives quite an 'Easter vibe' don't you think?
Normally when I'm doing a skittle mani the nails of my right hand get the same look, but this time I used the colours more randomly. It looks very playful, try it some time. :)
My right hand debut on the blog!

Beware of the Cat

When my new Konad plates arrived I immediately fell in love with the cute little bird on plate m83. For this mani I applied two coats of Eyeko - Rain Polish and stamped not one, but two birds on my ring finger nail with Konad Special Nail Polish in Black. It looked cute, but I felt something was missing so I added a naughty cat face (for the cat and the line I used a small paint brush and black acrylic paint). Yes, now it's complete. I have a little story on my nails! :)

I'm not only excited about this mani, but also about my new camera! Of course I have to get used to it(s weight), but it takes much better pictures than my compact camera, without a doubt. I'm hooked. ♥

Bella Flora

If this is what you're thinking right now: "Whoa, what a cool colour, I need that nail polish!", then I suggest not buying Bella from Essence, 'cause Bella looks much greener than my picture shows. If you're looking for a fabulous sea green creme though, this nail polish will not disappoint! Bella glides on smoothly and two coats are enough for an opaque result. The flower image I used for my ring finger nail.. ahh, I like it so, so much. It's my all-time favourite Konad image, no joke! You can find it on image plate M20. The stamping polish I used is Konad Special Nail Polish in White and I placed a dot in the middle of the flower with Charla from Zoya. And can I say I love my top coat? So shiny! ♥

Indigo Lunar Eclipse

I love snow. But when it starts snowing at the moment I want to photograph my fresh new mani, I hate snow. I wish I had more pictures to show you, this looks so awesome! Recently I finally bought Barry M - Indigo, an insanely gorgeous blurple creme (the colour was hard to capture on camera, it looks much deeper and purplier irl). Indigo applied beautifully, two coats were enough for full opacity. I wanted to add something to it without losing too much of that beautiful colour so I lightly sponged the tips of my nails with Lunar Eclipse from Orly. This is a dreamy combination, I like it very much! Indigo is such a stunner, why haven't I bought it earlier? In my experience Barry M never disappoints!

Thanks for watching and enjoy your weekend!

Speciallità - Hefesto & Recap Hits No Olimpo Collection

Let me first show you how magical Hefesto is. Hefesto is the prismatic top coat from Speciallità's Hits No Olimpo collection. I love this one, it's packed with prismatic particles! It's a top coat, so obviously it looks best if you apply it on top of another polish. This time I layered one coat over two coats of China Glaze - Bermuda Breakaway. Ohh, it's magic! ♥ This picture is taken in direct sunlight; in normal daylight Hefesto adds a silvery touch to the base colour.
I wondered how this layering would compare to (one of my all time favourites) OPI DS - Glamour. Here you can see Glamour on my ring finger nail and the layering with Hefesto on the other nails. There are differences, but I think this is pretty cool!

In the photo collage below you can see the entire Hits No Olimpo collection. Clockwise from the upper left corner: Dionísio, Hestia, Atena, Ares, Zeus, Artemis, Deméter, Poseidon, Afrodite, Apolo, Hermes, Hera & Hefesto in the middle.
I think Speciallità did a great job with this collection, look at all those wonderful colours.. Most of them have a super intense prismatic effect. I like! The formula on these was consistently good and so is the wear. I heard some people had problems with wonky and uneven brushes, but all my brushes were fine (other than a surprisingly big one in one bottle). I noticed they take some time to dry, so I recommend using a quick drying top coat. Please note that these nail polishes aren't Big 3 Free, they contain toluene and formaldehyde.

The Hits No Olimpo polishes cost around $4 (for 6 ml) at Speciallità. You can also get them for $10 at Llarowe.

I want to remind you that today is the last day you can enter my Speciallità giveaway! If you want to enter click →here←.

Speciallità - Apolo & Comparison

Well, what can I say..? Anóther stunner from Speciallità! Apolo is a deep, tealish blue coloured polish with a beautiful and strong rainbow effect. Just how I like it, Apolo rocks! The formula was good, I applied two coats, no top coat.
This is how Apolo looks next to Glamour from OPI's Designer Series. Both eyecatchers, but as you can see no dupes!

Pink & Blue: Speciallità Hestia & Poseidon

I hope you're not getting tired of seeing these prismatic polishes from Speciallità. I know I'll never get tired of them, in my opinion every single one is a masterpiece. Aren't these two soft shades stunning? A light pink and a light blue.. the Hits No Olimpo collection is really complete, so much fun colours! Hestia, the lilacy pink one, is a sweet and lovely shade and applies easily (three coats).
Poseidon has a knock-your-socks-off prismatic effect, the most intense of all the Hits no Olimpo polishes. This is also three easy coats.

These two beautiful shades plus eleven other nail polishes named after Olympian gods and goddesses are part of my giveaway prize, don't forget to enter!

Emerald Black Glistens Up

First of all, almost 500 new followers and around 800 giveaway entries in two days.. wow, I'm flabbergasted. :o A big welcome to my new followers and a big hug for my 'old' followers! :h
For todays mani I used Glisten Up! from Essence. I'm so sad Essence discontinued this one, now I feel like I have to cherish every drop. But not using it while knowing those drops look best on my nails is just stupid, right? I applied one gloopy coat (the formula thickened up quite a bit since I last used it) over Models Own - Emerald Black. I'm intrigued by how Glisten Up! comes to live over a dark colour. That little bottle contains a true treasure. ♥
This is Emerald Black from Models Own's Beetlejuice collection on its own. I love the blue and green shimmer in this one, absolutely breathtaking. The formula was excellent, two smooth coats for full coverage.

Teeez Boudoir Secrets Collection

Today I'm showing you a couple of nail polishes from the new Boudoir Secrets collection from Teeez.
"This elegant make-up collection is decorated with unique vintage charms that makes each product a treasure on its own, disguising the bold secrets inside. Because underneath the abundance hides a rebellious diva, like the 18th century queen of France Marie Antionette, who was passionate for the pleasures in life."
Teeez - Cool (04) is a light blue shade with a subtle silver shimmer. I really like the colour, but it was difficult to apply due to the thick formula. I swatched it twice 'cause it looked awful the first time (and I think every polish deserves a decent swatch), but I'm still not happy with how it looks on my nails, bummer! This is three coats.

Teeez - Gutsy (05) is a peachy nude coloured polish with gold shimmer. I can't say I'm a fan of this colour, but it applied much easier than Cool. Two coats.

Teeez - Femme Fatale (09) is a berry creme. Ahh, saved the best for last! This one is gorgeous and it applied like butter in two coats.

To be honest, I'm not blown away by these nail polishes. Next to the unique shades Teeez made in the past, these three don't look so special. The packaging is cute though. :) Oh, but what's up with the names? I already own shades from Teeez called Cool and Femme Fatale. This can be somewhat confusing, I wish they gave them new names and not just a different number.

Teeez nail polishes cost €4,90 for 8,5 ml. They're Big 3 Free. You can find more information on their website.

Enchanted & Addicted

Blue Addicted from Essence finally found the way to my nails. Isn't it insanely pretty? This is one coat over a forest green creme (Orly - Enchanted Forest). And as you can see I also applied a layer of matte top coat, 'cause I think there's nothing hotter than mattified glitter nails. Blue Addicted could use some thinner, but other than that: great job with this one, Essence! :tup

Red, White & Blue

Recently I made this Holland themed cake for a befriended couple. I bought the Delft blue kissing couple (non-edible) a while ago and now I finally had the chance to use it on a cake. I thought it would be nice to use the colours of the Dutch flag: red, white and blue. These colours look so great together! So I also used them on my nails; China Glaze - Poinsettia (a new fav!) as the base colour, a random white and Chuck from Essence for the arches on the tips. I also placed some silver dots with China Glaze - Millennium. A layer of top coat and done!
I hope you enjoyed this new episode of Match the Nails to the Cake. :) Below you can see a collage with all the cakes I shared with you until now; a colourful whole, isn't it? I really like sharing this other passion here and hope you don't mind looking at more cakes (ánd matching nails) in the future!
Thanks for watching and have a good weekend!

A Glamorous Birthday!

That's right.. it's my birthday! Hooray! I wish I could give you all a gigantic piece of cake. :O

This is the perfect day to wear my beloved Glamour. I applied one coat of Chuck from Essence and two coats of OPI DS - Glamour. LOVE.
